Gerib Sik
Aaron Fa’Aoso yarns with Noel Zaro from Torres Strait Islander cultural dance group Gerib Sik, and later shares their Meriam stories, songs and dance.

Gerib Sik is the Meriam Mir (the eastern Torres Strait Islands) word for the Cardwell Lily, a white lily that flowers prolifically once a year on the Murray Islands (Mer, Dowar, Waier).
Noel and Kaylynn Zaro spearhead Gerib Sik Torres Strait Islanders Corporation as principal dancers and teachers and on 7 May 2010 were awarded Order of Australia Medals (OAM) for their "Service to the promotion and teaching of Torres Strait Islander Culture and Traditions through the songs and dances of Murray Island and the Torres Strait”.
