CURE - ZANE SAUNDERS
Can be viewed via CIAF Facebook page
An exploration piece that encapsulates cultural, spiritual reformation and transformation for a virtual audience.
Originally created for a live audience, artist Zane Saunders has performed the ultimate pivot in his work – producing a new 50-minute signature art piece of his Spirit series, Cure.
Cure uses the metaphor of a moral compass for the application of contextualised Indigenous knowledge symbolised by the 'Right' and 'Wrong' Rainbow formed in the shape of an arch. In so doing, two large-scale, engineered, sweeping mechanised arches form the installation that Saunders integrates during his performance.
With Covid-19 measures in place, Cure has been adapted and presented as a 360˚ digital video especially for CIAF 2020- The Cultural Evolution.
The artwork Cure sits within the project concept of Spirit, born out of the Australia Council for the Arts Signature Works Program, Sydney, 2016 and developed in November 2019 at an Arts Ignite residency at Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, Brisbane.
